Rather Pollyannish, I’m afraid, as you have overlooked the one inconvenient truth of climate change that nearly everyone who writes about it overlooks: the 2-generation (40–50 year) time lag between actions and results. So while I agree with you about Millennials and their progeny, unfortunately what we are doing and not doing right now will determine their choices. So Trump DOES matter, as the window of opportunity for avoiding cascading climate catastrophes due to feedback loops like we are seeing right now has either already closed (under the very compassionate Obama, who did virtually nothing but undermine climate talks for 7 years, and has left us with a toothless aspirational document where we once had a binding treaty) or is closing fast. So please, rethink your thesis taking into account at least 3.5 C rise in average temps, which happens to be the threshold for growing crops. In fact, the U.N. FAO says that even WITHOUT climate change, we are 60 years from no longer being able to grow crops due to the insane reliance on soil-killing chemicals in our Agribusiness models.
