The Vocal Majority Party

For all of my dear brothers and sisters who are marching in the streets, who are rising up against our corporate-controlled overlords, I am issuing this call to action. I would like to announce the formation of a new political party, a party that will begin as the majority party in this country from its inception: The Independent Voter Party.

The majority of the people in this country are fed up. We’re mad as hell, and we’re not going to take it anymore. We the People are taking back control of our government by the most expedient means possible.

This is not a joke. All comers are welcome.

The meaning of our name is simple. We will field candidates for political office whose votes will be independent of the donors who support them, because the amount of any and all donations will be anonymous. Every donor will be considered equal, and none will have preference over the others based on the amount of their donation. Instead, all will be judged solely by the content of their ideas. Thus, we will rightly call ourselves “The Independent Voter Party,” and we will embody the very spirit of all those in this country who have already registered themselves as Independent voters.

Our platform is the people’s platform, and is based on Community Values. It’s planks are simple and sturdy:

  1. Social Justice for All, beginning with reparations to the descendents of Indigenous Peoples & Slaves. We will establish a national truth and reconciliation process to finally unite the people of the United States.
  2. Free Health Care. Single payer, Medicare for all.
  3. Climate Sanity. Our children’s future is more important than our present comfort levels. All life is sacred, not just human life. We will reverse climate change by converting Agribusiness back to Agriculture ~ a nation of family farmers practicing agro-ecology will not only create community health, but by restoring healthy soils, taking carbon out of the atmosphere before it is taken up by the climate system. Leading climate scientist Dr. James Hansen is clear that this is necessary.
  4. Fair Labor Standards. A $15 minimum wage is just the beginning. We will eliminate corporate political activity. All elections will be publicly funded. And we will immediately end all corporate welfare. Finally, we will begin revoking the charters of any corporations who are no longer acting in the public interest — beginning by placing Monsanto, Shell, and Exxon-Mobil on probationary status, requiring them to reform their ways to conform with the general public good.
  5. Free University Tuition for anyone who maintains a B average or better in their senior year of high school. This is not welfare. It is an investment in our own future.
  6. Non-Violent Foreign Policy. We will dismantle the Industrial-Military Complex that holds the world hostage to generate profits through misery. We will immediately slash the Department of Defense budget by half, and establish a Department of Peace. We will begin diverting 5% of the Defense Budget annually to the Department of Peace, implementing non-violent solutions to both international problems and domestic problems with an army of mediators and peacekeepers.
  7. Real Social Security. Every person will have a right to a roof over their head, free health care, and having their minimum nutritional needs met. This will have the effect of virtually eliminating crime once fully implemented. There will simply be no incentive for a life of crime.
  8. Tax Reform. And this is how we pay for it all. A value-added tax on non-essential consumer products. A flat income tax up to $1M/yr. personal income. A 99% tax on all personal income in excess of $1M/yr. Nobody needs to make more than $1M/yr. in this day and age.

That’s it. It’s just that simple. People are rising up, taking it to the streets, because our government has become a scary joke. But it is not enough to just march in the streets. We must organize around a clear set of principles, and an agreed upon list of demands. This is not rocket science. We know what we want, and we want it now.
